Chrissy Teigen And John Legend Donate $200,000 To Time's Up To Honor 'Heroic' USA Gymnasts

And they did so without making a peep.

Never one to shy away from an opportunity to use their platforms for change, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend have once again stood up for what's right. The A-list couple recently made a $200,000 donation to the Time's Up Legal Defense Fund on behalf of the "heroic" survivors who stood up against defamed Team USA gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar.

Per the initiative's GoFundMe page, the donation was made by "Chrissy Teigen and John Legend on behalf of the heroic gymnasts of the USA Gymnastics Team." This comes just days after Nassar was sentenced to 40 to 175 years in prison for the sexual abuse of more than 150 athletes. Thus far, neither Teigen nor Legend have spoken out publicly about the quiet donation.

Teigen, always one to celebrate wellness and self-love, had previously voiced support for the young women involved in this courtroom battle, specifically McKayla Maroney. Maroney, who had signed a non-disclosure agreement as part of a settlement she reached with USA Gymnastics in 2016, faced a potential $100,000 fine had she testified against Nassar in court. Teigen, on Twitter, said "the entire principle of this should be fought" and that she would be "absolutely honored" to pay the fine for her.

In the end, USA Gymnastics said they wouldn't pursue any consequences should she testify and, in fact, encouraged her to do so. Maroney, along with the testimonies of other brave and courageous survivors, helped Judge Rosemarie Aquilina deliver a sentence that puts Nassar away for life — ensuring that others won't be subjected to sexual abuse.

With this money, Time's Up is even more equipped to help others victims such as Maroney. The initiative's mission is to "provide subsidized legal support to women and men who have experienced sexual harassment, assault, or abuse in the workplace while in pursuit of their careers." At the time of publication, the GoFundMe has raised nearly $19.5 million.
