Bride Surprises Her Father With Cancer By Throwing Her Wedding At The Hospital

"He still has the will, the spunk, and the humor to be completely alive."

For Vieneese Stanton, walking down the aisle with her father was "one of the best moments of her life." In a post on the Love What Matters Facebook page, Stanton explains that she was set to marry her fiancé in April of next year. Unfortunately, Stanton's father was diagnosed with leukemia this past February and his health has since deteriorated.

Stanton writes that her father, who has raised her since she was 3 years old, has been in and out of the hospital, on several medications, and through chemotherapy treatments, but "nothing has seemed to work in his favor." In her post, dated November 18, she adds that doctors believe her father only has a few weeks left to live. So, she decided to move her wedding date so that her father could be there.

"Given the news of my father's life expectancy (and with the help of an AMAZING nurse team), we were able to have a surprise wedding so my dad could attend," Stanton writes. "The nurse team kept the wedding a secret from my Dad, so this whole day was a surprise to him ... It was such a beautiful day."

In photos attached to the post, readers can see Stanton and her father walking arm and arm in the hospital, smiling. Stanton wears a beautiful wedding dress while nurses and doctors line the corridor, clapping in celebration.

"The doctors are now ready to place my father in hospice, but he still has the will, the spunk, and the humor to be completely alive," Staton writes. "We have both dreamed of him walking me down the aisle to my groom — and that moment finally happened. This was truly [the] best day of my life! Dad, I love you more than you know, and I am going to be by your side for every step of this process."

Readers have since left their comments on the Love What Matters post, offering the family happiness and well wishes.

"Beautiful bride, beautiful wedding, beautiful family! Many blessings to you & your husband. My best wishes for your dad!" one person writes.

"The love you have for each other is so evident in your smiles," another adds.
