Barack Obama Surprised Michelle With The Sweetest Video Message For Their Anniversary

"Asking you to go out with me is the best decision I ever made."

Tuesday marked Barack and Michelle Obama's 25th wedding anniversary. To mark the occasion, the former president had quite the surprise for his wife — a sweet video message, which was shown during her appearance at the Philadelphia Conference for Women.

Mrs. Obama was finishing up her talk with TV producer Shonda Rhimes when she learned her husband had recorded the comments for her. The former first lady posted her own tribute on social media Tuesday, sharing a photo from their wedding day and writing, "A quarter of a century later, you're still my best friend & the most extraordinary man I know."

Obama, meanwhile, said of his wife in the video message, "The idea that you would put up with me for a quarter of a century is a remarkable testament to what a saintly, wonderful, patient person you are.

"It was a lot easier for me to do it," he continued, according to People, "because the fact of the matter is that not only have you been an extraordinary partner, not only have you been a great friend, somebody who could always make me laugh, somebody who would always make sure that I was following what I thought was right, but you have also been an example to our daughters and to the entire country."

"It's no wonder that as people got to know you the way that I got to know you, that they fell in love," Obama went on, adding, "I figured that you wouldn't mind me parachuting in just to say how much I love you."

The video was later posted on Obama's Facebook account, where it has received millions of views. "Asking you to go out with me is the best decision I ever made," the video's caption reads. "I love you, Michelle."

Mrs. Obama was clearly touched by the gesture, as she could be seen smiling through the whole video. "I better get home," she said when it was over.

The Obamas' relationship has clearly captured much of America's hearts — even inspiring two Iowa teens to dress as the couple for their prom earlier this year.
