When A Bride Invited The Obamas To Her Wedding, They Sent Her A Note

"We hope that your marriage is blessed with love, laughter, and happiness and that your bond grows stronger with each passing year."

Former President Barack Obama said serving the American people was the "honor" of his life, but he and Mrs. Obama are certainly making the most of their post-White House days. That's why it should come as no surprise that the former first couple recently responded to a wedding invitation they received from a stranger with a very heartfelt letter.

Bustle reports a Twitter user named Brooke shared a photo on July 31 of the reply her mother received from the Obamas after kindly inviting them to her March nuptials. The fact that the reply is on the beloved duo's personal stationery makes up for the fact that it's more than a few months late!

Not surprisingly, Brooke's tweet has already garnered over 211,000 likes, upwards of 45,000 retweets, and more than 500 comments, many of which are from people who now want to invite the Obamas the celebrate their special occasions as well.

Others shared similar correspondence they'd received from the pair prior to their departure from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Even while acting as POTUS and FLOTUS respectively, Mr. and Mrs. Obama frequently found time to congratulate Americans celebrating important milestones such as weddings, births, or anniversaries.

In a clarifying tweet, Brooke explained her mother actually mailed the invitation back in December when Obama was still in office.

In May of last year then-POTUS and Michelle sent a similar note to a lesbian couple who invited them to celebrate their wedding as well. The then-First Couple obviously declined, but told brides Chelsea Roden and Lisa Hirschpek, "We hope your bond grows stronger with each passing year."

One especially lucky bride and groom got the surprise of their lives in 2015 when then-President Obama crashed their wedding and even offered some helpful advice

Though the Obamas could make it to Brooke's mom's wedding, by the look of the gorgeous snapshot below, she was still every bit the blushing bride.

While attending a stranger's wedding may not be in the cards for the Obamas right now, they've each continued to stand up for and support causes they championed in The White House and continue to believe in.

The former president, for example, has maintained his bromance with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and spoken out against the current administration's decision to pull out of the Paris Climate Agreement. Not one to be outdone, Mrs. Obama has continued to advocate for women in technology, presented a very important honor at the ESPYs, and spoken out about the importance of education for girls.

Still, we expect their mailbox to be full for years to come!
