19 Comics For Couples Who Aren't Quite Ready To Do The Whole Adult Thing Yet

We've all experienced #17 ...

Navigating adulthood as a couple can be as comical as it is challenging. Twenty-six-year-old Caitlin Quijano is sharing some of these challenges in her hilarious comic series that shows what it's like to try to "adult" when you really don't want to.

The Canadian artist, who shares her work on her website Anemone Lost, touches on relatable topics like avoiding responsibility, social engagements, and acting your age. She also touches on how to get your partner's attention and how to punish them for Netflix cheating.

Many of her illustrations are inspired by real life experiences she has with her husband. "I think my husband and I have a fun dynamic that makes for good material," Quijano told A Plus. "In the comic, Kayla is often impulsive and dramatic, and her husband, who I call 'green-shirt guy,' is the voice of reason. It's a pretty accurate description of our actual lives."

Quijano says her husband is incredibly supportive of the comic series, and she aims to make him laugh with each one. "If I can do that, I know other people will like it too," she said.

While Quijano learns how to handle all of the challenges of adulthood, her comics have helped to teach her a thing or two, too.

"I've learned the power of persistence," she said. "When I first started, the comics were really rough. Now, I've not only seen my skills improve, but now lots of people are reading them. It's unreal."

She hopes people who see her work will see themselves in the comics. "I think there's something very powerful about seeing media you can relate to that makes you feel less alone," Quijano said.
