Amy Schumer Tackles Military Rape In A Humorous, But Extremely Eye-Opening Way

For a comedian, Amy Schumer tackled this with some tact.

Amy Schumer isn't afraid to tackle rape.

The comedian, who usually gets laughs with dirty jokes and self-deprecating humor, went after military rape in a recent sketch for Comedy Central. In it, Schumer is seen playing a military video game where she choses a female character and suddenly finds herself being accosted by a male counterpart in the game.

Her timing is pointed, as military rape has been a hot-button issue since 2012 when the Pentagon reported nearly 26,000 cases of "unwanted sexual contact," a statistic that affected 6.2 percent of the female military force.

While military rape is no laughing matter, she uses satire to shed light on the topic. Schumer may have made a joke of it, but her point was not lost on us.
