An ‘American Idol’ Hopeful Forgot Her Lyrics. The Judges Gave Her Something To Remember.

"Shake it off, baby."

After wowing the American Idol judges with "Oops! ... I Did It Again" by Britney Spears, Catie Turner forgot the words when singing "Manic Monday" by The Bangles. In the aftermath, though, this hopeful was reminded that it happens to the best of 'em.

The night was dedicated to the contestants performing songs from the year they were born (that's where the Spears song came in, as Turner was born in 2000) and the Prince catalogue (for this Turner chose The Bangles tune, which Prince wrote in 1986). "Oops! ... I Did It Again" went swimmingly for Turner, but when "Manic Monday" started, it was apparent almost immediately that she had forgotten her lyrics. While clearly shaken in the midst of the blunder, Turner recovered after a few seconds.

"Catie, you have been in this competition since Day 1 and you have not had one glitch. So what just happened to you is OK, darlin', all right?" Luke Bryan said, speaking for the other judges. "It happens to me, this one (pointing to Katy Perry), and that one right there (pointing to Lionel Richie). Shake it off, baby. You did a great job."

Bryan's fellow judges also chimed in and offered support to Turner, who unfortunately went home at the end of the episode anyways. Richie said being a perfect performer is an illusion and that it's all about how you recover. Perry joked that if she was reminded of all of her onstage gaffes it wouldn't be very pleasant, also echoing what Richie said about brushing off any errors because they're not important.

"And I think ... you know what, Catie?" Perry asked. "You're destined, so just believe in it."
