'100 Years Of Piercings' Is Filled With All Sorts Of Inspo For Your Next Look

From the '20s to the '80s and today.

From pierced ears, to tongues and noses, piercing trends have certainly evolved throughout the last 100 years.

In a new video for Allure magazine, the publication highlights those popular piercing styles from the last century, starting with the 1920s and moving through today.

And while the video is filled with tons of piercing-inspo, it's also packed with information and fun facts that help provide historical context for the given trends of the time.

For instance, the video begins by explaining that women in the '20s often wore clip-on earrings, given that pierced ears were considered taboo. This continued through the '30s, when "screen sirens like Gloria Swanson helped give these pain-free jewels an extravagant Art Deco update."

The video then highlights the nostril and septum piercings popular in the '40s and '50s and the punk rock pierced earring styles of the '80s.
