Abercrombie & Fitch Releases Gender-Neutral Collection In A Move Toward Inclusion

"Our Everybody Collection is one assortment, in one size run, that covers the trends we are seeing in both color and style.”

In another positive move toward the fashion industry becoming a more inclusive space, Abercrombie & Fitch has announced its gender-neutral collection, fit for anyone who wants to wear it.

The fashion company has released its "Everybody Collection," "for every kind of kid .. boys and girls, tall or small, aspiring scientists or athletes" there are "styles for all!"

To promote the new collection, the brand is showcasing interviews with various kids about their aspirations and interests. For example, one kid says they want to be an animal rescuer when they grow up, and another says they want to explore coral reefs.

"We put our customer at the center of everything we do and are constantly listening to their feedback to provide the right product and brand experience," Stacia Andersen, brand president of Abercrombie & Fitch and Abercrombie Kids, writes in a press release. "Parents and their kids don't want to be confined to specific colors and styles, depending on whether shopping for a boy or a girl. Our Everybody Collection is one assortment, in one size run, that covers the trends we are seeing in both color and style."

The clothing pieces that are part of the collection are not sectioned into "boys" and "girls" pieces; there's one sizing system, and the clothes will be displayed in the center of the store, so boys and girls don't have to choose a side, Scary Mommy reports. Now, they can shop together.

"I love this collection so much. I love what it stands for," one person comments on Instagram.

While there is still a ton of work to do to make the fashion industry a more inclusive space, we appreciate Abercrombie & Fitch's efforts and hope that it inspires more brands to follow suit.
