It's a "4D" experience.

If there's one thing James Corden loves doing with his guests on The Late Late Show, it's staging unconventional live performances. His crosswalk musicals are endlessly entertaining, and this week he debuted another in-theater experience with the cast of A Wrinkle in Time.

Corden previously directed the cast of Thor: Ragnarok in a live version of the film for a theater full of moviegoers — and this version follows the same concept. You might call it a play, but Corden insists it's a "4D" experience. He got the movie's young star Storm Reid, as well as Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, and Mindy Kaling, to appear in the production.

Unfortunately, Chris Pine apparently wasn't available to reprise his role as Dr. Murry, so they use a cardboard cutout instead. It definitely adds to the homemade effect of the whole production, which is epitomized by Corden's leaf-blowing special effect toward the story's climax.

If you choose to enjoy the Late Late version of A Wrinkle in Time (and we highly recommend it), be warned that there are a few spoilers — although there's really no arguing that the movie, out now, is a much different viewing experience. Still, if you ask Corden, "The movie was good, but this? This was better."
