Scientists Just Found Out Bees Are Way Smarter Than We Thought

This is the bee's knees.

You can teach a dog to sit, a dolphin to jump through hoops, and even a pigeon to deliver messages. But can you teach bees anything at all?

If you think the answer is no, you're wrong. Scientists just trained bees to pull a string for a treat. Perhaps even more amazing, however, is that other bees were able to mimic the skill after watching their fellow bees perform the action. Understanding that a bee's capabilities extend beyond what we previously thought is particularly cool as "the ability to learn and pass on knowledge has never been seen before in insects," according to the video above. But their talents don't stop there: studies have also shown bees can identify landmarks and various colors.

Pretty cool stuff, huh?
