This 8-Year-Old Travels The Country To Hug Police Officers In Every State

She has been to 27 states so far.

We can all learn from the carefree and effervescent love of children, but one 8-year-old named Rosalyn Baldwin is an especially good example.

The child from Louisiana travels the country giving hugs to police officers, reports WKRC-TV. Her "hug campaign" started in 2016 after five officers were shot and killed in Dallas.

"Basically, it was the shooting in Dallas that broke her heart," Rosalyn's mother, Angie Baldwin, told WKRC.-TV. "She said, 'Mama, they are killing our heroes.' And then, when it happened in Baton Rouge, it was very personal to her."

According to Rosalyn's website, RosalynLoves, her mission is to "journey throughout the country as a beacon of light, love, and hope.  She wishes to unite communities by demonstrating her sincere love and appreciation, for those who have committed their lives to serving and protecting the people of our nation."

So far, Rosalyn has visited 27 states, and has made stops in places such as Houston, Cincinnati and Ferguson. She doesn't plan on slowing down any time soon.

Cincinnati's Police Chief Eliot Isaac said that Rosalyn's project gives him hope for the younger generation. "To have a young person like that really just share that love that she has for police officers, it really warms our hearts," he said.

People have showered Baldwin in gratitude for her selfless actions.

Rosalyn, who prays with the officers she visits sometimes, said her idea for the hugging project came from God. "I didn't decide, God decided," she said. She added that she is on a "mission of love."

She created a GoFundMe page to help raise money for the cost of travel. So far she has raised more than $10,000.  "I want to hug all of the police officers in every state. It's in my heart," she said on the fundraising page website.
