Woman Born With Moles All Over Her Body Is Trying Out For Miss Universe, Inspiring Us All

"Beauty doesn't come from a perfect face or body size."

Evita Delmundo is on a mission to prove that beauty isn't skin deep.

The 20-year-old was born with moles all over her body and face, but that hasn't stopped her from showing the world that confidence shines through, and that societal standards of beauty are meant to be broken and expanded.

In fact, after overcoming severe bullying as a child, Delmundo recently auditioned to become Miss Universe Malaysia 2018, and is anticipating a callback by the end of July.

"I got bullied in primary school and the other kids would call me names, which was really tough to swallow as a young girl," she said in a recent interview with Refinery29. "I was really timid and I shied away as I didn't know how to deal with it all."

For a time, Delmundo considered surgery to remove her moles although doctors told her of the risks. Moles, or the medical term nevi, are a common type of growth on the skin, mostly harmless and rarely cancerous, according to the Mayo Clinic. But thankfully she opted out of changing her appearance with the help of a church camp she attended when she was 16.

"I really learned how to love myself and communicate with others. This was probably the first time I truly started accepting who I was, how I look," she told Refinery29.

Now, she could be on her way to competing for the Miss Universe crown in 2018. But even if she doesn't succeed at gaining a spot in the international beauty pageant, Delmundo is already a beauty queen to the thousands of people she inspires on social media.

With over 60,000 Instagram followers, Delmundo is helping others to find confidence in their appearance and love themselves no matter what.

She told TODAY Style, "I feel like I'm so happy because I can open (other people's) minds and eyes that beauty (doesn't come) from a perfect face or body size."
