5 Things You Can Do To Help Your BFF Trapped In Self-Doubt

Getting by with a little help from your friends.

Self-doubt is a crippling feeling we all experience at one point or another. And while everyone deals with it differently, sometimes a simple reminder that self-doubt isn't a permanent state of mind can help.

That said, if you have a best friend experiencing self-doubt, it can be hard to see them fearful and unsure about themselves. But you don't have to feel helpless; there are some things you can do to make your BFF feel better — and have fun in the process.

1. Remind them of their achievements.

It's easy to get caught up in thinking about how things can go wrong, but that's what friends are for — to make sure you don't forget your successes, too.

2. Start an exercise routine together.

Nothing gets the endorphins flowing like a good sweaty workout. Whether it's yoga or a kickboxing class, it'll help your BFF feel like they did something productive, and get those feel-good chemicals going in the brain.

3. Spend time with them outside.

Sunshine is a natural mood booster, and what better way to help your bud shake the blues away than to spend time enjoying the simple things? Take a walk, throw a picnic party, or just sip on a smoothie outside — chances are, you'll both feel a little more energized.

4. Start a creative project together.

It doesn't have to be anything that requires planning or a vision (unless that's your thing!). Taking a class or even scrapbooking on your own can help get the creative juices flowing.

5. Remind your BFF that success only comes after a lot of failures.

Nobody's ever too old to make it. Take it from J.K. Rowling, Harrison Ford, and Tina Fey. Sure, they had a string of setbacks, but they never let them define them — and look where there are now.

Your path to possible can start today.
