What's A-Parent is a series highlighting those who get real about the hardships that come with raising kids. These often untold stories help show parents they are not alone in their struggle, and are doing an amazing job.
Raising a child is hard work no matter who you are, and doing it alone makes it even more challenging. Single parents have to assume the role of both parents, and often have to put their personal lives and dreams on the back burner because there's no one else to pick up the slack.
That can mean that while many days are purely fulfilling, other days can be disappointing. In a series of confessions on the Whisper app, several single mothers confess some of their day-to-day struggles as a parent doing it alone. From having a child who considers them their best friend, to feeling lonely too much of the time, their responses show each single mom has her own experiences, thoughts, and feelings about their situation.
And though each confession is different, hopefully they will help remind other single parents out there that they are not alone in their struggle, and that their hard work does not go unnoticed.
