We've seen a lot of very talented ladies, both famous and not famous, share their takes on Adele's music. But during last night's first battle round of The Voice, coach Alicia Keys took the less expected route and assigned two men from her team to perform the singer's smash hit "Hello."
During rehearsals, Alicia explained how she thinks it's "a beautiful song on a male voice," albeit "not an easy song to sing." The contestants, Christian Cuevas and Jason Warrior, were up for the challenge. They drew on emotion from their own lives — Jason's father has been in and out of jail, and Christian's father passed away last year — to deliver a powerful performance.
"You guys are emotional dudes," coach Adam Levine told them after they sang. "You have to be. If you're gonna be a singer, you have to convey emotion."
Alicia had a tough decision to make, but she ultimately chose Christian to keep on her team. It wasn't over for Jason, though, as Adam soon pushed his button to steal him for his own team and save him from going home. We can't wait to see what else these two singers have up their sleeves.
