There's A Lot To Unpack In Selena Gomez's 'Bad Liar' Music Video — Including A Taylor Swift Cameo

You're going to need to pay attention.

You're going to need to pay close attention to Selena Gomez's new music video for "Bad Liar." The song's visual offering gives us a one-woman show featuring the 24-year-old in a variety of roles in a complex story, a very likely Taylor Swift cameo, and a tease for what else is to come.

Let's first tackle Gomez's many characters and the music video's storyline. At the center is Gomez as a student whose dad (also played by Gomez) is having an affair with the gym teacher (also played by Gomez). After going home, we meet the teen's mom (also played by Gomez) and something hinted at during the entire clip is confirmed: the high schooler has a crush on the gym teacher, too! Talk about a twisty-turny plot, huh?

Next up to examine is what lots of people are focusing on, which is how Swift somehow makes an appearance in the music video. While we don't see Gomez's BFF in the flesh, BuzzFeed points out that we do see what appears to be the "Bad Blood" singer's face on a Charlie's Angels-esque poster, seen here:

The last thing to unpack from "Bad Liar" — which samples the bassline from the 1977 tune "Psycho Killer" by the Talking Heads — is the end of the Jesse Peretz-directed clip. When the scene fades away there's a teaser for an upcoming project titled "Fetish," and the very last thing we see is Gomez mouthing the word. We can only assume this is the Gomez's next single or album.

In the meantime, though, we're going to just keep rewatching "Bad Liar" on repeat.
