Rita Ora's Stellar Cover Of Madonna's 'Like A Virgin' Comes With A Contemporary Twist

Hear her fresh take on the classic tune.

It's Live Lounge Month at BBC Radio 1, which means we've seen some great covers from talented artists. Earlier in the month, Pink performed Sam Smith's "Stay With Me," while Harry Styles shared his take on Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain," and The Killers rocked out to David Bowie's "Fame."

On Monday, it was British singer Rita Ora's turn at the mic. In addition to singing her recent track "Your Song" (whose co-writer Ed Sheeran recently joined her for a stripped-down performance), Ora performed an amazing cover of Madonna's 1984 classic "Like a Virgin."

In Ora's hands, the song gets a mellow, more contemporary makeover, showcasing the singer's strong vocals. Then, toward the end of the performance, we discover that it's not just a cover — it's also a mash-up. Ora segues into a few lines from rapper Travis Scott's "goosebumps" (featuring Kendrick Lamar), as her backup singers continue to sing "like a virgin" in the background.

Eventually, Ora seamlessly transitions back into the '80s hit for the finale, and we're hitting replay.

The Live Lounge Month schedule shows upcoming performances from Jay-Z, Lorde, and Sam Smith. We can't wait to hear what they come up with.
