In 1984, Wham! released their Christmas hit, "Last Christmas," and it quickly became a holiday staple.

At the time of its release, band members George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley had high hopes for the song, with Michael telling Rolling Stone, "As an artist, you want to reach as many people as possible."

"Michael's sales expectations have since been exceeded — 'Last Christmas' has, as of [2016], sold 1.8 million copies in his home nation and more than 750,000 copies in the States," the magazine reports. "But the impact the song has had goes far beyond its scans. 'Last Christmas' has become one of the biggest holiday songs spawned in the post-MTV era, second only to Mariah Carey's Phil Spector throwback 'All I Want for Christmas Is You.' "

And just this week, Rita Ora took to the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge to sing her own rendition of the song and we've quickly added it to our holiday playlist. All the while, Ora wears a T-shirt with an image of Michael, paying homage to the song's origins.

So without further ado, turn on your Christmas tree lights and get ready to jam out to "Last Christmas" with the full video below:
