Pentatonix just made the holiday season even more nostalgic than we ever thought possible. The acapella group appeared on Monday night's America's Got Talent holiday special to perform a classic song off their new Christmas album.
They didn't go as far back as "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" (although we loved that cover). Instead, they gave the '90s kids a reason to get excited by singing "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays" from NSYNC. The song was originally released on the boy band's 1998 holiday album, and it's a less expected alternative to titles like "All I Want For Christmas Is You" — as much as we love rocking out to that one every year.
We're only slightly disappointed that the group didn't don the wonderfully dated outfits from the song's original music video, but they still look great in their coordinated colors, and it's hard to complain when they sound as good as they do. The judges seem to agree, with none other than Simon Cowell starting a standing ovation. Although we can't be sure, we'd like to think that if Pentatonix were auditioning for the show with this performance, someone would press the Golden Buzzer.
