"Our next guests are one of the greatest bands in rock 'n' roll and I am so happy that they are here as an early birthday gift for me," Ellen DeGeneres says during an episode of The Ellen Show.

With that, she introduces Mumford & Sons for their first-ever appearance on daytime television. The band is there to perform their emotional hit "I Will Wait," for DeGeneres ahead of her birthday on January 26. It's a song Rolling Stone named one of the top best songs of 2012, and we're still totally enamored by it to this day.

The group, who picked up a Grammys in 2012 for Album of the Year for Babel as well as Best Long Form Music Video for Big Easy Express, then takes to the stage against a fiery background and twinkling lights for a performance that — just like their other live appearances — does not disappoint.

The band is also set to perform tonight at IHEART ALTEREGOin Los Angeles.
