Those who are more familiar with Miley Cyrus for her hits "We Can't Stop" and "Wrecking Ball" — or even her days as Hannah Montana — were likely surprised to hear the singer show off a more stripped-down sound for her new single "Malibu." This week, she stripped it down even more with an acoustic rendition of the song during an appearance on Elvis Duran and the Morning Show.
Cyrus has plenty of folksy influences in her life, from her dad Billy Ray Cyrus to her godmother Dolly Parton. She seems to be back to embracing those roots now, through both her musical style and her fashion sense. (Check out the floppy hat and bandana she wore for the show.) But through it all, she's still just being Miley.
And Miley just so happens to be extremely talented, as she shows off in this latest performance. In fact, some fans seem to prefer the star without all the bells and whistles. "She is one of the few singers who sing better live than in the studio," one commenter wrote on YouTube. Another praised, "Authentically beautiful, Miley. Her vibrato is so gorgeous in this song!"
We can't wait to hear what else she has in store.
