This Country Singer Just Released A Perfectly Timed Song Reminding Us All That Love Conquers Hate

"In the darkest tunnel, there is still love & music. That's what it's here for."

In the wake of the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history Sunday night in Las Vegas at a Jason Aldean concert, the world is trying to figure out how to respond to tragedies of this scale. Maren Morris, a Grammy-winning country singer-songwriter, is showing everyone that music can heal and that love can conquer hate.

Morris first tweeted that she had played Route 91 in Vegas the night before 59 people were killed and more than 500 were left injured, and that her heart was broken in the aftermath. Then, out of nowhere, Morris released "Dear Hate" featuring country music legend Vince Gill.

"I wrote this song 3 years ago, recorded it last year with Vince Gill, and always have fans asking when I'll put it out. I never knew when would be the right time," the 27-year-old said. "Hate is everywhere, and I'm sick of not doing enough. In the darkest tunnel, there is still love & music. That's what it's here for."

Morris introduced the song, promised that any money she makes from her song will go to the Music City Cares Fund (later updating everyone that "Dear Hate" will be available on iTunes this Friday) benefitting victims of the Las Vegas mass shooting, and left us with a powerful hashtag: #LovesGonnaConquerAll.

The lyrics of "Dear Hate" are quite moving, and it paints a vivid picture by using Biblical imagery of a snake in a garden and mentioning historical moments such as what happened at the Selma bridge, the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, and September 11. There is the promise of a silver lining, though, with Morris singing: "You whisper down through history and echo through these halls / But I hate to tell you, love's gonna conquer all."

Las Vegas has seen a lot of support since this weekend after the mass shooting, with many people lining up to donate blood, stories of bravery from everyday people, courage from first responders, moving tributes from celebrities, and sparking dialogue on how to discuss shootings with kids.
