This 9-Year-Old 'America's Got Talent' Singer Wowed With Her Cover Of 'How Far I'll Go' From 'Moana'

Celine Tam is a star.

You might remember 9-year-old America's Got Talent singer Celine Tam from the time guest judge Laverne Cox hit the Golden Buzzer for her. She was named after Celine Dion, and sang "My Heart Will Go On" in her audition. This week, for the semifinals, Celine chose to sing another hit from a movie soundtrack — the Oscar-nominated "How Far I'll Go" from Moana.

Celine gave an animated and polished performance of the song, which was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and performed in the film by actress Auli'i Cravalho. The young singer had an epic backdrop, complete with atmospheric fog, and musicians playing piano and cello. At the song's close, she totally nailed the last long high note.

The performance brought judge Heidi Klum to her feet. According to Gossip Cop, Klum told Celine that she "sang crystal clear and pitch-perfect," while Simon Cowell called it "a massive, massive step up from what you've done before" and a "perfect" song choice.

Of course, one YouTube commenter couldn't resist playing on the song's lyrics in their response to the performance, writing, "Awwww she has come so far! There's no telling how far she'll go!" Whether or not she makes it through to the next round of the competition, with a voice like that, we have a feeling she'll go very far.
