Alicia Keys just released her newest music video, and it's sure to touch a lot of people.
The song, featuring A$AP Rocky, is called "Blended Family (What You Do For Love)," and it's a beautiful tribute to just what the title would suggest — her blended family. The singer has two sons with her husband Swizz Beatz, who also has three other children from previous relationships.
"Hey, I might not really be your mother / But that don't mean that I don't really love ya," Keys sings. "And even though I married your father / That's not the only reason I'm here for ya."
Keys' family, including her husband's ex-wife Mashonda, appears with her in the black-and-white video. Their footage is intercut with shots of other loving families, as Keys acknowledges, "It may not be easy, this blended family, but baby / It's what you do, what you do, what you do, what you do for love."
When the song was first released last month, Keys shared the following message on her website:
I'm so excited for you to hear this song. It means so much to me and our whole family. The understanding, compassion and support we've found is a powerful testament to the healing that comes when we choose love. Especially for the kids… the most important part of our lives. Celebrating Mashonda for our commitment to each other with support and true growth.
This isn't the first time Keys has sent a message though her music. Earlier this year she released an emotional short film called "Let Me In" which brought attention to the global refugee crisis. We love to see her using her talent to tell important stories.
