LGBTQ Pride Month

What Your Dating Habits May Say About You — Or Not — If You’re A Gay Senior Or Millennial

"How do you define love?"

Now that same-sex marriage is legal in the U.S., it's a whole new ball game for the LGBTQ community. In the past, a marriage in one state might not be recognized in another next door. But now, same-sex couples in the States can (mostly) forge ahead with a goal of happily ever after — if that's what they want, of course.

Part 2 of A Plus' video series featuring intergenerational dialogues between LGBTQ elders and youth (seen in the clip above) explores the ideas of dating and monogamy within gay culture, and how the HIV/AIDS crisis, dating apps, identity, and the bar scene play into the quest to find a kindred spirit. (Check out part 1 of the series, as well as part 3.)

It's yet another portion of our LGBTQ Pride Month coverage under our theme, "There's No One Way to Be Gay," which strives to tell stories about the diversity within the community, including stories about people of color, women, transgender individuals, and the elderly. You can, and most definitely should, read more of it.

A Plus is proud to have collaborated with Services & Advocacy for GLBT Elders (SAGE) — the United States' largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) older adults — for this story.
