In The Spirit Of Giving

Hugh Laurie Wants To Reunite This Package He Mistakenly Got With Its Rightful Owner

His small act of kindness sets a positive example for the holiday season.

We love tinsel and trappings as much as the next Elf on the Shelf devotees, but here at A Plus, we believe that true wintertime magic comes in the form of connection and human kindness. Over the next month, come back and join us in raising a glass to those who give — because what's December without a little holiday spirit?

Hugh Laurie is over on Twitter showing people that the right thing to do when you get the wrong package is to try to get it back to its rightful owner. The House star is trying to help get items that were mistakenly sent to him back to the person who they were meant for.

"Doting parent/uncle/aunt - I was sent your parcel by mistake, and can't find any way of sending it back to Amazon to make sure you get it. If you can name the third item, I'll post it to you direct," he wrote.

He shared two of the items sent to him by accident, which were a biology book and the board game Speak Out Kids vs. Parents. Laurie is keeping the third item he was sent private so that he can find the rightful recipient. The tweet has been shared more than 1,700 times and has more than 3,700 likes.

Many praised Laurie for the kind gesture, but some people couldn't help but respond to the tweet with a House-related joke.

No update yet on whether or not Laurie found the person the package belongs to, but here's to hoping he does.

With the holiday season in full swing, mishaps like this one can become more common because so many people are ordering things. Let's hope that people take a page out of Laurie's book and go the extra mile to ensure that things they didn't order end up in the right hands.
