These days it's a little too easy to get caught up in hustle and bustle of our everyday lives. It can feel like we're always rushing through something, working toward another, and feeling a little too tired throughout. But if we slowed down a bit, we might just realize how truly beautiful the everyday moments we take for granted are.
Taking one look at artist Yelena Bryksenkova's work will help you get there. The New York-based illustrator portrays some of these moments in a unique style that's calming, contemplative, and comforting.
Spending time with friends, making meals for loved ones, and finding solace in reading are just a few of the everyday moments she depicts in her artwork. As you gaze at each of her pieces, you can easily imagine what it's like to be within the frame. Even though each depiction is her own, it's easy to think of a memory of our own that directly relates and puts a smile on our faces.
"My small pen and acryla gouache paintings are inspired by my love of home and the comfort of everyday objects, as well as more magical, mysterious and melancholy themes," she writes on her website.
Bryksenkova sells her original paintings as well as prints of her work in her Etsy store. She enjoys seeing her work purchased by people all over the world. "To think I could connect with someone across the globe, beyond the limitations of verbal language, is what really makes my work feel meaningful, especially in times of doubt, and I try to think of it as my small contribution to peace on earth," she writes.
