If you're a fan of beer, you might want to get to know the Imgur user Code152.
In a gift to beer connoisseurs everywhere, they put together a list of the 10 most expensive beers in the world, accompanied by a little blurb about where each beer was from. The post was so good we just couldn't help ourselves but share it with you.
So without further adieu...
10. Sapporo's Space Barley, sold for $110 a six-pack
After Japanese and Russian scientists discovered they could grow Barley in space, they sent some back to help cultivate the first ever space beer.
9. Crown Ambassador Reserve, sold for $90 for 750ml
A beer packaged in a champagne bottle? You bet, and it's quite appropriate: this high-end beer is aged in French oak for 12 months before it's time to get drinking.
8. Tutankhamun Ale, sold for $75/500ml
This improbably beer was created after archaeologists discovered and ancient brewery, analyzed the remnants at a microscopic level and reproduced the beer based on the 3,250-year-old recipe recipe they could decipher.
7. Brewdog's Sink The Bismarck, sold for $80/375ml
Described as a quadruple IPA, this beer — named appropriately after an old Nazi battleship — was an attack on the German beer that was considered the strongest at the time. It's alcohol by volume (ABV) is an astonishing 41 percent.
6. Samuel Adams' Utopias, sold for $150/700ml
Feast your eyes on America's most expensive beer. According to Code152, it's "released every two years, each batch is aged in sherry, brandy, cognac, bourbon, and scotch casks for up to 18 years."
5. Schorschbräu's Schorschbock 57, sold for $275/330ml
Only 36 bottles of this epic beer exist in the world, and it's brewer — Georg Tscheuschner — claims it's the strongest beer in the world, with an ABV of 57.5 percent. Unfortunately, ratebeer.com only gave it a 20 out of 100 on its website.
4. Carlsberg's Jacobsen Vintage, sold for $400/375ml
Each of these bottles has an expiration date of 2059, so you've only got 43 years to get a taste!
3. Brewdog's The End Of History - $765/330ml
It's the third strongest and second most expensive beer in the world, and all of the bottles are made from taxidermied road kill. What else do you need to get your appetite up? All you need is 765 dollars to blow.
2. Pabs Blue Ribbon 1844 - $44.00/720ml
Yes, it's that PBR. Though considered a lower-tier beer in the States, Pabst Blue Ribbon has quite the reputation in China, where it's sold for 44 dollars a bottle. Unlike the American beer, though, this one is made out of German caramel malts and aged in American whiskey barrels.
1. Nail Brewing's Antartic Nail Ale - $800-$1815/500ml
If you're into animal activism, this is the beer for you. The Antarctic Nail Ale was made by Nail Brewing in Perth, Australia, and all the profits from the beer go to Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.
