While Washington Wizards point guard John Wall garners headlines for recruiting Kevin Durant in 2016, he has been busy donating to help the homeless in the Washington, D.C. community.
The pro athlete's charity work involves Bright Beginnings Inc., a center for homeless families in the D.C. area. The organization's director, Dr. Betty Jo Gaines, thanked Wall on the BBI Facebook page:
“It is evident that John Wall is sensitive and concerned about the plight of homeless children in DC and he wants theses children to succeed.”
In recent months, NBA stars have begun to use their popularity to fuel charitable initiatives. Wall is the latest NBA star to make a significant donation towards fantastic causes during the off-season. LeBron James has decided to fund over 1,000 college scholarships in the Akron, Ohio public school system. Ditto for Metta World Peace selling his NBA championship ring for donations to mental health.
Pictures following Wall's donation to the Bright Beginnings can be seen below.
Thanks to players like Wall, James, and World Peace, the humanitarian athlete is getting more visibility. Here's hoping that trend keeps getting bigger.
