15 Men Reveal Why They Need Feminism And Their Answers Are Chillingly Spot-On

Emma Watson would be proud.

A year ago on Sept. 20, actress and UN Women Goodwill Ambassador Emma Watson made a resounding plea for all genders to care about women's issues with the launch of her HeForShe campaign.

She took the stance that both genders need to care about gender equality, because the issues that come from a world where women are devalued — women treated as if they're the main caretakers of children, which explains the lack of changing tables in men's bathrooms to society seeing women as the more emotional (aka weak) sex, putting the burden on men to be tough all the time — hurts everyone.

She asked men not to get caught up on the word feminism, but what it represents:

"We are struggling for a uniting word, but the good news is we have a uniting movement. It is called HeForShe," she said. "I am inviting you to step forward, to be seen to speak up, to be the 'he' for 'she' and to ask yourself if not me, who? If not now, when?' "

Inspired by a similar project out of Duke University, we ventured out into New York City streets to find out if and why men care about women's rights by asking them to finish the phrase "I need feminism because ..."

Their answers say it all.

Check them out below.
