Whoopi Goldberg Surprises New York City Nuns With An Awesome 'Sister Act' Of Kindness

A new van, $10000, and a year of gas to help the sisters help others.

Whoopi Goldberg pulled off a beautifully kind "sister act" on ABC's The View last week when she surprised a group of nuns from the Order of the Franciscan Handmaids of the Most Pure Heart of Mary with gifts from The View and its sponsors.

The sisters help feed needy residents of New York via a food pantry/delivery service and provide palliative care to HIV/AIDS patients.

Goldberg — who played a singer posing as a nun in Sister Act and its sequel — presented the philanthropic Franciscans with a $10,000 check from RetailMeNot and a Sienna van from Toyota, who is also providing them with a year's worth of gas.

The Order of the Franciscan Handmaids of the Most Pure Heart of Mary celebrated its 100th anniversary on March 29th by kicking off a campaign of 100 days of kindness.
