Sonny John Moore, better known as Skrillex, is a Grammy-winning artist who's one of the biggest names in electronic music. His most recent hit with Diplo as Jack Ü, "Where Are Ü Now," featured Justin Bieber and frankly it was hard to step outside for most of 2015 without hearing it playing somewhere.
However, just because a song is ubiquitous and an artist is huge in major cities, it doesn't mean everyone across the nation will recognize his name. Even a community that's about to host him as a centerpiece accompanying the biggest event in racing: the Indy 500.
Every year, the Indy 500 Snake Pit brings top EDM acts to the center of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval on the day of the race. The crowds drawn in usually skew pretty young, given that older folk have a hard time believing dubstep is actually music. With this in mind, Indiana's WISH-TV station decided to get out on the streets and ask random passersby if they had any idea who Skrillex is. Needless to say, the guy's not as popular in America's heartland as he is back home in Los Angeles.
