21 Hilarious White Lies Parents Have Told Their Kids To Make Life A Little Easier

"When the ice cream van plays music, it's to let everyone know they've run out."

We all know raising kids isn't exactly a walk in the park. That is unless that walk is through the pouring rain while your kids are screaming, crying, and fighting with each other. They're also putting random objects in their mouths and touching everything they shouldn't be touching. Oh, and you? You're exhausted, unshowered, and completely unprepared for any of it. Then it's exactly like a walk in the park

To make this walk a little more manageable, sometimes parents have to tell a little white lie to avoid bad behavior or hurting their child's feelings. Sometimes the harmless lie can help to make their lives a little easier, and what parent couldn't benefit from that?

Yesterday, Dan Walker, an English journalist and television presenter of the morning show BBC Breakfast, tweeted at parents to learn a little more about the trivial lies they've told

"Apparently, 9 out of 10 parents say 'white lies' are the secret to a happy life," he tweeted. "What are the fibs you've told your children? #PetHeaven."

Parents were more than happy to share the little white lies they've told their children. His tweet has been shared more than 150 times, has over 700 likes, and more than 360 responses. Some showed parents telling harmless lies to keep their kids from getting upset. Others fibbed to their kids to avoid having to do more work, put in extra effort, or having their sleep interrupted. And a few parents just wanted to keep their kids from eating too many sweets — or get mad that they ate them all first.

We rounded up some of our favorites responses from Twitter users and shared them below.
