How much do you really know about the struggles of those around you?
In 2014, there were more than 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States, according to Pew Research. Unauthorized immigrants make up 3.5 percent of the nation's population and 5.1 percent of the labor force in the United States. While they wait for immigration laws to catch up, unauthorized immigrants migrate to escape poverty, oppression, and make a better life for themselves and their families.
That means there are millions of people living and working right next to us who are constantly living in fear of deportation. While we sometimes learn about the heartbreaking stories of deportation after the fact, we rarely hear about the struggles of people currently living undocumented.
Several of those people took to the Whisper app, an anonymous confessions platform, to share some of their experiences.
