Breaking up is the worst.
It also sucks when it's your best friend that's going through one. You absolutely hate seeing her upset and, sometimes, it's not immediately clear how you can help. As her BFF, you know it's your job to try to cheer her up. Sure, some people may prefer to be left alone to wallow, but it doesn't hurt to try to make the process easier.
Here are some things you can do to help:
1. Dance it out.
Singing is also encouraged.
2. Have a movie night.
Sometimes, the best thing you can do is just let her talk out her feelings. Yeah, that can mean hearing the same stories over and over, but what are best friends for?
4. Make her a care package.
Fill it with things she loves and products that reduce stress. Face masks and candles are always great gifts.
5. Cook comfort food together.
6. Go to a comedy show.
Sometimes, a good laugh is all you need to help take your mind off of things. If you can't get out to one, stay in and watch stand-up on Netflix.
7. Surprise her with her favorite treat.
Bring her coffee from her favorite place just the way she likes it. Or that one thing that's always able to satiate her sweet tooth. It's the small things that go a long way.
8. Go to a fitness class together.
Exercise releases endorphins, which is exactly what she needs right now. Plus, working out means focusing on herself, which is way better than thinking about her ex.
9. Give her a pep talk.
10. Play drinking games.
Making one up together is always fun.
11. Go on an adventure, even if it's small.
Go on a weekend trip somewhere. Try to find the best whatever-food-they-love in your city. Go camping. Just do something fun and out of the ordinary together.
12. Get dressed up and take silly photos together.
She'll have photographic proof to remind herself that she's gorgeous, silly and has an amazing best friend.
13. Make sure she knows you're always there for her.
