Instagram's Video Feed Allows LGBTQ Young People To Share Their Stories

#VisibleMe

On Friday, Instagram introduced a video and photo feed known as #VisibleMe, which allows LGBTQ youth to proudly share their incredible stories for the entire world to see.

"There is an urgency behind this work because so many kids still feel isolated, lonely, and like they don't fit in," #VisibleMe creator Raymond Braun told BuzzFeed News. "Helping to create a safe, creative, supportive, expressive place for them to explore their identity and build community can literally mean the difference between a kid growing up with self esteem and a strong sense of self — or not."

#VisibleMe launched on Instagram with Braun's own video post.

"Every day, I am impressed by the creativity, passion, diversity, intelligence and resilience I see from LGBTQ youth on social media," he told The Huffington Post in an email. "People are more likely to support the LGBTQ community when they know someone who identifies as LGBTQ, so I hope this project provides a platform and voice for young people to create change, helping them feel empowered, supported and visible."

Here are 13 brave LGBTQ youth who shared their stores with #VisibleMe on Instagram.
