Veterans Share What PTSD Is Really Like, And We're Speechless

Heartbreaking burdens.

For many veterans, their battles don't end when they return home. They just change shape.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, affects 10-20 percent of veterans in the United States. While the issue gets much more attention today than it did in past decades, support remains scant.

Whisper collected confessions from servicemen and women, and the results show just how debilitating PTSD is. Some mention ruined relationships, while other simply wish they could return to the war zone.

The stories are a heartbreaking reminder of how much further the U.S. needs to go when it comes to taking care of veterans.
