Both Of These Moms Wanted To Keep Their Babies Healthy And Safe. But One Of Them Was Denied.

Close the gap.

UNICEF's latest video welcomes viewers into the lives of two South African mothers and their contrasting experiences with safeguarding their kids' health.

Both of the moms' stories begin the same way. They wake up in the morning, fix breakfast, and spend time with their precious babies.

Even though they come from different economic backgrounds, the love they have for their children is the same, and it's beautiful.

But when one of the moms arrives at the clinic, things don't go as planned.

According to UNICEF, 22.6 million children worldwide – or nearly one in five —  don't have access to the vaccinations they need. The World Health Organization estimates that in 2013, 1.5 million kids died from diseases that could have been prevented by vaccination.

The video above was created as part of April's World Immunization Week, which strives to "close the gap" and ensure all families, not just some, have proper access to immunization services. UNICEF's full educational campaign features inspirational videos along with lots of resourceful information on vaccines and immunization.
