If you thought ballet was beautiful, wait until you see it underwater.
Italian photographer Adolfo Maciocco, who specializes in both wedding and underwater photographer, decided to explore what the craft would look like in a marine environment. For his photo series Liquid Dreams, he invited classical ballet dancer Diletta Antolini and free-diving world champion Davide Carrera to collaborate. The photos were shot using natural light in the deep sea of Tavolara, a small island off the coast of Sardinia, Italy.
"Liquid Dreams is an underwater photographic project that takes classical ballet under the surface using the water as the stage where gravity vanishes," Maciocco told PetaPixel.
The resulting images transport viewers to a magical setting where elegant dancers can fly. Both Antolini and Carrera's presence feels nimble and weightless in the surreal, underwater scene.
