Tyra Banks On Why She Loves Her 'Big Forehead,' And The Importance Of Handling Insecurities

"But don't have them take your spot. Give them your spot, and move on to the next thing."

It's common to have insecurities, but supermodel Tyra Banks says it's how we deal with those insecurities that truly matters and makes us different and beautiful.

In an interview with Today, Banks explains that she has a "very large forehead," and it would get called out early on in her modeling career.

"Some people call it a five-head," Banks says in the Today video. "Some people call it a five-head. And maybe even a six or a seven. When I turned into a supermodel, a lot of people were saying, 'She's cute but — she's got a big forehead.'"

But rather than let that get to her, Banks says she's thankful for her forehead and for the way it's helped shape her as a model. She even adds that it's helped her stand out in the high-fashion world.

Banks goes on to offer dating advice to her younger self, saying, "To my younger self I say, 'Girl, please. Wait 'till you see him 15 years from now. You are not gonna be running toward him, you are going to be running away.' "

This idea is applicable beyond just dating. Sometimes, the things we think are super important when we're young aren't going to matter that much in the long run — so let's just relax.

"Plan for the end at the beginning. There are so many things that are here, and that are wonderful, but they're fleeting ... "

"There's always somebody going ... 'I'm next, I'm next, I'm next.' But don't have them take your spot. Give them your spot, and move on to the next thing."
