Caitlyn Jenner revealed her new name and appearance on the cover of Vanity Fair just a few days ago, but she's not one to just sit around and wait for life to happen. In fact, she's already announced her next big project. On June 3, E! released the trailer for Jenner's docu-series, 'I Am Cait,' which will follow her as she begins her new life, post-transition. The trailer shows Jenner applying makeup and describing all the ways her life has already changed since she publicly came out. Of course, Twitter reacted to the 'I Am Cait' promo instantaneously.
Celebrities and regular folk alike applauded Jenner on her decision to publicly share her story—though many also cautioned that most trans people don't have the means to achieve similar results, and many are also the victims of physical and psychological abuse. Still others called out the media for its obsession with Jenner's beauty and outward appearance.
All these points are valid. We believe it's possible to celebrate Jenner—and the awareness and acceptance she's helped raise about the lives of trans people—while also acknowledging that her journey is not the norm. But don't just take our word for it. Here are some of the best Twitter responses to the upcoming eight-hour E! series, which will debut July 26 at 9 p.m. ET.
