When Their Child Went From Elizabeth To Kai, These Parents Knew Exactly What To Do
"Loving you is the easiest thing in the world. Tidy your room."
Usually, a person gets one birth announcement per, well... life. But not Kai Bogert.
When 19-year-old Kai, who was born Elizabeth Anne, came out to his parents as a transgender man, they had a eureka moment. Kai's mom instantly bought a classified ad featuring a revised birth announcement to show full acceptance of their son's gender.
They even managed to include a reminder for Kai to tidy up his room.
"In 1995 we announced the arrival of our sprogget, Elizabeth Anne, as a daughter. He now informs us that we were mistaken. Oops! Our bad. We would now like to present, our wonderful son - Kai Bogert. Loving you is the easiest thing in the world. Tidy your room," reads the announcement.
The decision was "a no-brainer", Kai's mom told The Courier-Mail. Despite the news coming out of the blue, Ms. Bogert says she wanted to show full support to her son and let the world know about it. Kai admits he was surprised by his mom's openness:
"I am so happy with what she has done. This last week has changed everything for me. I am still me but I am more me than I was a few days ago and feel free," Kai told The Courier-Mail.
