15 Months After A Near-Fatal Crash, Tracy Morgan Gave A Triumphant Emmys Speech

And everyone couldn't have been happier to see him.

In June 2014, comedian and actor Tracy Morgan of 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live fame was in a limousine with friends when a Walmart truck rear-ended them on a New Jersey highway. The accident killed Morgan's good friend and fellow comedian James McNair, and left him with severe brain trauma, a broken leg and broken ribs.

After a lengthy legal battle, Walmart took full responsibility for the crash and settled with Morgan for an unknown amount, with the lawsuit alleging that the truck driver hadn't slept for more than 24 hours and was speeding at the time of the accident. A few months ago in his first post-crash interview, Morgan told Today's Matt Lauer "I can't believe I'm here" and that although he was recovering from his injuries, "bones heal, but the loss of my friend will never heal."

Very emotional, he also wondered at the time "how I’m gonna be funny again."

So as he took the stage at the 2015 Emmys to present the award for Outstanding Drama Series, it was understandably a very triumphant and emotional moment, and every person in the audience didn't waste their time in giving him a standing ovation as he walked to the microphone.

Morgan expressed his gratitude for everyone who supported him through the tough times and even got a couple jokes in.
