Twitter Appropriately Freaked Out When Tom Hardy Read A Book On A Kids’ TV Show

Reading really is fundamental.

Tom Hardy let his younger British fans see an affectionate side of him on New Year's Eve.

The actor, best known for his roles in films such as The Revenant and Max Max: Fury Roadappeared on BBC's children's network, CBeebies, for its CBeebies Bedtime Stories program. The show is aimed at children 10 and under to make reading accessible and fun, kind of like a U.K. version of Reading Rainbow.

Celebrity guests tend to make their way to Bedtime Stories. Notable guests in the past have included David Tennant, David Hasselhoff, Simon Pegg, and Rosamund Pike.

Accompanied by Woody, Hardy's dog who sat comfortably on his lap as he was also lulled to sleep, Hardy read You Must Bring a Hat by Simon Philip and Kate Hindley.

The news of Hardy's appearance on the show sent U.K. moms to Twitter to express their last gratitude of 2016.

But even those who aren't moms were pleased with this bedtime story.
