One Boy Is Writing Letters To Every Country In The World — And They're Responding

Toby Little has been sending the letters since he was five years old.

When Toby Little was five years old, he brought home a book called A Letter To New Zealand.

After reading it with his mom, he decided he wanted to write to New Zealand himself. Soon enough, he decided he wanted to write to as many countries as he could. With an interest in everything from archeology to filmmaking, Toby has managed to write to 880 countries — receiving almost 400 letters in return.

"He just had a dream," Toby's mom Sabine Little told A Plus. "We did our best to help him keep writing for as long as he wanted to. We never expected such a positive response or a book publisher to get in touch."

But that's exactly what happened. Today, Toby — who lives in London, England — has a growing Facebook page, and a big following on his website.  He's also working on his own book, Dear World, How Are You?, which collects all the letters he's sending and receiving.

While Toby loves all of his responses, he told A Plus a few stick out in his memory. One is a letter he got from James, who works at the South Pole in Antarctica.

"I wrote to James just before my 6th birthday, and he even sent me a Happy Birthday Toby banner, and a picture of it at the South Pole," Toby said.

"His letters tap into something that transcends politics," Sabine said. "We don't censor them other than making sure they are understandable and readable. His questions are asked because of a genuine interest, there is no hidden agenda...I guess that speaks to people."

Check out some of the amazing letters and responses Toby has gotten below.
