After Seeing Her Pregnant Sister Struggle To Find A Stylish Dress, Designer Creates Fashion Line For Pregnant Women

" ... being pregnant shouldn’t mean that you have to sacrifice your style."

Everyone wants to feel beautiful on a special occasion — whether it's at a wedding, a friend's formal party, or even a red carpet event. But unfortunately, the fashion industry does not cater to everyone's formalwear needs. One designer, Tiffany London, noticed a gap when it came to fulfilling the dress needs of pregnant or breastfeeding women.

To fix this, she created her own brand called Tiffany Rose, an inclusive range dedicated to providing special occasion wear to those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. The range includes wedding dresses, red carpet gowns, casual dresses, and more.

The label, which is designed and made in Britain, is stocked in boutiques around the world, and it has even dressed royalty and celebrities.

London told A Plus via email that her sister inspired the line. "I started Tiffany Rose in 2003 after hearing about my pregnant sister's struggle searching for a stylish dress to wear. After doing some research, I quickly realized that there was a gap in the market for beautiful and thoughtfully designed maternity occasion wear, and I founded Tiffany Rose later that year with an initial investment of just £600."

"The idea of inclusivity has always been very important to us. At Tiffany Rose, we believe that being pregnant shouldn’t mean you have to sacrifice your style. Pregnancy is a time to be celebrated, and we want women to feel confident, empowered, and fashionable in what they wear at every occasion."

When it comes to designing the range, London is sure to focus on function as much as fashion. "We design every gown with confidence and comfort in mind," states London, "We want women to feel fabulous and at their very best when they wear one of our dresses. Our maternity bridal collection has proven especially popular, and we take great pride in designing what is going to be the most special dress of someone's life. When we receive a lovely review or a photo of one of our customers wearing our dresses it makes it all worth while!"

As for what the design process is like, London explains, "For us, the key to designing amazing maternity wear is in the fabric selection. We hand select fabrics that are super-soft and have a little stretch so that our customers don't feel restricted in our designs. We also design with fabrics that can be cleverly gathered and draped to create flattering styles."

Fit is another big consideration. "Our expert garment technologists have a wealth of experience, and enable us to create cleverly designed dresses that support a woman's figure throughout every stage of pregnancy. During pregnancy, the rib cage expands, your bump grows, and so does the bust, so we make sure that our designs accommodate these natural changes and offer a fantastic fit."

The nursing dresses are designed to make it easy for moms to breastfeed, and there are two style available. "These designs have been thoughtfully crafted with a discrete nursing panel and wrap around belt to enable women to breastfeed in public and special occasions. For our nursing dresses, we make sure that we select the softest baby-friendly linings for the most comfortable feed."

"Our nursing dresses have proven to be so popular that we launched the April Nursing Dress in ivory earlier this year so that women can breastfeed on their wedding day!"

Customer feedback also plays a roll in the design process. London explains that the customer service team communicates with customers on a daily basis and any requests go directly to the design and production teams.

"A great example of this is our bestselling nursing style, the April Dress. This style was born because we were getting an increasing amount of customer requests for a nursing style that was dressy enough to be worn at special events," she stated.

The brand has also recently launched a non-maternity sister label, called Alie Street, for customers who are looking for dresses when they aren't pregnant.

As for future plans for Tiffany Rose, London writes that the brand is currently working on its next collection which will feature new styles that she hopes women will love.
