Australia: where nature hates everyone and works tirelessly to prove it.
When inhabitants of the continent down under aren't hiding from venomous snakes, spiders, and insects, the jacked-up kangaroos, or shielding themselves from the blistering rays of the sun, they also have to contend with enormous thunderstorms raining hell from on high.
BlueDogFilms recently recorded an intense thunderstorm off the coast of Maroochydore, Queensland, turning it into a short time-lapse film that proves, without a doubt, that Australia is a force to be reckoned with.
It's almost hypnotic as the clouds billow up, illuminated by the bright flashes of lightning from the storm. The colors change as time goes on, as the light from the setting sun is filtered through the atmosphere and refracted by the clouds. The storm's powerful winds are ripping through the trees in the foreground, which look like they could uproot at any moment.
The video is short but incredibly beautiful. You'll want to go full screen to watch this — twice.
