Give People Thousands Of Stickers And Ask Them To Decorate A Blank Room, Then Watch What Happens
This made me feel like a kid again.
In this interactive art installation by inventive Japanese artist and writer Yayoi Kusama, random gallery-goers are invited to decorate a stark, clinically-white room (which Kusama cheekily dubbed the "Obliteration Room") with thousands of brightly-colored stickers.
It's hypnotizing to watch the timelapse video of the room's evolution from sheer blankness to an explosion of lurid colors. Not only does it seem like the most fun art-going experience ever, but it's intriguing to see what patterns emerge from this joyful act of obliteration. Out of blankness, then chaos, a certain subtle order prevails. See for yourself.
