Proposal videos circulate the web pretty often. But the proposal video you're about to watch is a special proposal. Not because of flash mobs or surprise selfies, but because the individuals involved have Down syndrome.
Ad agency Saatchi & Saatchi Italy along with Coordown, an Italian association of people with Down Syndrome, filmed a man with Down syndrome named Salvatore proposing to his girlfriend, Caterina, who also has the genetic disorder.
The proposal begins with an a capella group entering the McDonald's where Caterina works, singing Norah Jones' "Come Away With Me."
Followed by Salvatore emerging from the group with a house key — then getting on one knee.
It's a common misconception that those with Down syndrome can't live independently. Though the percentage is small of those that can live entirely on their own, according to Global Down Syndrome, that number continues to grow.
And there are many resources that allow people like these two love birds to make it happen.
